I believe this equally applies to thoughts. Here the assumption is that the most efficient form of power is coming from 'free flow'. This was not very obvious to me. We can argue that to get most efficient output thoughts need to be controlled by intelligence and knowledge. In one way of thinking intelligence working on knowledge creates new thoughts and modifies existing ones. Also there is a feed back loop here where judgement created based on thoughts goes back to intelligence to create more knowledge and give birth to new thoughts.
In another way of thinking great thoughts often tend to get corrupted by intelligence and knowledge. While mediocre thoughts may produce better results while applied with supervision, great thoughts need non-speculative minds. The mind behaving like a highway where complex thoughts will generate over simpler ones without resistance or disturbance. One needs to be in the world of fairy tales and let the mind flow like a stream which can go both uphill and downhill without boundary of rudimentary logic. That can bring those 'Eureca' moments, create those ideas which will long be considered as miracles. I suspect many great creative minds works and have worked that way.
I feel it most while I am trying to make a sketch of 'nothing'. Where intelligence plays a big role to stop my hand from touching the paper until the idea is clear in my mind. However when I go brave and allow my hand to do the job freely, I sometime get surprising results. I know I could not have created this with a controlled brain. A limitation is that I cannot keep my mind that pristine for long. My intelligence starts seeing forms in those formless creations and takes over soon. Perhaps because I have no great mind.
Right from the time when we come out of mother's womb, we are trained constantly by our too many well wishers to control out thoughts, which in controls our actions. By the time we are capable of imagining worthy things we are corrupted. In case of some lucky ones, it survives.
